Remember the name: Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky. We at Zaptec are proud to announce our partnership with Mikaela for the 2023 Extreme E electric off-road racing series.
What is Extreme E?
Extreme E began in 2018 as a project led by Formula E founder Alejandro Agag and former driver Gil de Ferran. The series uses spec silhouette electric SUVs – a one-design fleet – to race in remote parts of the world, such as deserts or the Arctic.
The series also promotes gender equality in motorsports by mandating that all teams consist of a female and a male driver who share equal driving duties. And to be clear: the “Extreme” part of Extreme E is astonishingly accurate. Check it out on YouTube. It looks completely crazy.
“Off-road is in my blood, with my grandfather winning the Paris-Dakar in 1980, and now with the motorsport switching to electric racing, I’m thrilled to be a big part in this change and development.”
EVs as a focal point
Zaptec celebrates the series’ goal to use electric racing to highlight remote environments under threat of climate change issues. They also have a Legacy Programme, which intends to provide social and environmental support for these locations.
What does Mikaela think about her new partnership?
“It feels absolutely right; we share the same values towards a more sustainable and electric future where we both want to be leaders. I’m really looking forward to the partnership with Zaptec, which is such a strong Nordic company.”
We at Zaptec are very much looking forward to powering Mikaela in her pursuit of beating last year’s impressive second place.
The 2023 season kicks off on March 11-12. Don’t miss it!
